The Confidence CLI manages feature flags, events, session recordings, and AI integrations from the terminal. Use it for first-time project setup or day-to-day management.

Install

Requires Node.js 24 or later. After installing, the confidence command is available globally.

Opens a browser window for OAuth sign-in. After authenticating, the CLI stores your credentials locally. Check your session at any time:

Set Up a Project

The fastest way to go from an existing project to a working Confidence integration is the interactive setup wizard:
The wizard walks you through these steps:
  1. Checks required tools and detects your framework.
  2. Signs you in to your Confidence workspace.
  3. Installs the Confidence plugin for Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.
  4. Connects the Confidence flags and docs tools.
  5. Asks which features to set up (flags, events, or recordings).
  6. Shows the planned changes and waits for confirmation.
  7. Uses your AI assistant to integrate the SDK and produce a working example.
The wizard detects React, Next.js, Node.js, Python, Swift, Kotlin, Java, and Go. If it cannot detect the framework, choose TypeScript, JavaScript, or another supported SDK. You can also run the wizard without installing the CLI:

Set Up Individual Features

If you already have a project configured and want to add a specific feature, use the targeted setup commands instead of the full wizard:
Each setup command detects your framework, installs the SDK if needed, and walks you through configuring that feature with your AI assistant.

Manage Resources

After setup, use the CLI to manage flags, events, recordings, AI integrations, warehouses, and configuration from the terminal. See the Confidence CLI reference for every command and global option.

After Setup

Open the project in the IDE you configured and try these prompts:
Create a flag called “checkout-redesign” and add it to the checkout page. Show the recommended Confidence SDK pattern for this project.
The assistant uses the plugin and the connected tools. Run confidence quickstart again in the same directory if you skipped a step. See the CLI README for the permissions each assistant uses.
