Confidence is a warehouse-native experimentation platform (feature flags,
A/B testing, rollouts, metrics) from Spotify. Usage is measured in credits;

## Usage rules

- One credit = one unique user exposed to an experiment in a given month.
- Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle; unused credits do not roll over.
- Feature flags do not consume credits — only rollouts and A/B tests do.
- No overage fees. You are notified before hitting the limit.

**What is Confidence?**
Confidence is an experimentation and feature flagging platform built for product teams that ship fast and learn faster. Originally created inside Spotify to power experimentation across hundreds of millions of users, Confidence is now available as a standalone product. It combines feature flags, A/B testing, sequential testing, and warehouse-native metric analysis in a single platform - letting teams roll out features safely, measure impact rigorously, and iterate without leaving their existing data stack. Unlike tools that bundle experimentation as a side feature, Confidence is purpose-built around the experimentation loop.

**Is there a free plan for feature flagging?**
Yes. Confidence's Free plan includes unlimited feature flags, unlimited seats, Google SSO, EU or US hosting, and 75,000 credits per month, at no cost, with no credit card required. Most competitors gate SSO entirely behind enterprise contracts. Well, we don't, Google SSO is included on Free tier, and SAML SSO is included on Growth, not Enterprise.

**How does Confidence pricing work?**
Confidence uses a credit-based pricing model where one credit equals one unique user exposed to an experiment in a given month. Your credit usage scales with the number of users you experiment on - not the number of experiments you run, the number of feature flags you create, or the size of your team. The Free plan includes 75,000 credits per month with no credit card required. The Growth plan starts at $449/month with 750,000 credits and scales up to 2.5 million credits at $999/month. Enterprise plans offer custom credit volumes alongside dedicated support and SLA-backed performance.

**What happens if I exceed my credits?**
We notify you well before you hit your monthly limit, and you have several options to keep going. You can upgrade to a higher Growth tier at any time, top up with a pay-as-you-go credit pack (150,000 / 500,000 / 1,000,000 credits), or wait until the next billing cycle when your credits reset. We never silently rate-limit your experiments or surprise you with overage fees.

**Do unused credits roll over?**
No, credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and don't carry over to the next month. We've designed each tier to give you generous monthly headroom, which keeps pricing predictable. If you regularly approach your limit, upgrading to the next tier is usually more cost-effective than topping up - and you can do so at any point in your billing cycle.

**Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?**
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade between Confidence plans at any point in your billing cycle. Move up or down between Growth tiers ($449, $749, $999) instantly when your credit needs change. Annual plans are pro-rated when you upgrade, and you keep your existing terms when you switch tiers. There are no penalties, no minimum commitments on monthly plans, and no surprise overage fees if your usage shifts. If you're uncertain which tier fits, the Free plan and 30-day Growth trial let you experiment with no risk.

**How does Confidence compare to LaunchDarkly, Statsig, or PostHog?**
Confidence is an independent, European-built experimentation platform that originated inside Spotify, where it powers experimentation across hundreds of millions of users. Unlike LaunchDarkly (US-based, feature-flag-focused), Statsig (recently acquired by OpenAI), or PostHog (analytics-led with experimentation as a feature), Confidence is purpose-built for product teams where experimentation is core to shipping velocity. We offer free Google SSO, warehouse-native architecture on every plan, EU or US hosting, and a generous free tier - features that typically require enterprise contracts elsewhere.

**How does Confidence's free tier compare to Statsig's?**
Statsig's Developer tier offers 2 million free events per month, but "events" include every flag check, log event, and metric ingestion your app fires. In practice, that covers roughly 50,000 MAUs.
Confidence uses a simpler model: 1 credit = 1 unique user in an experiment. 75,000 free credits, 75,000 users in experiments, every month.

**Is Confidence GDPR compliant? Where is data hosted?**
Yes. Confidence is fully GDPR compliant and offers EU or US data hosting on every plan, including the Free plan. On our growth and enterprise plan we provide audit logs, role-based access control, and SAML-based single sign-on as standard. Confidence as a standalone product is currently undergoing its first SOC 2 Type II examination, targeted for completion by December 2026. Its plugins, included in Backstage Portal, were in scope for the 2025 Backstage Portal SOC 2 examination and covered security controls across access control, secure development, data protection, monitoring, logging and auditability, and incident response.

**What's the difference between Google SSO and SAML SSO on Confidence?**
Google SSO is included on the Free plan, letting any team with a Google Workspace account sign in seamlessly. SAML SSO with Okta and Entra ID is included on the Growth plan, supporting enterprise identity providers commonly used in larger organizations. Google SSO covers the majority of teams getting started, and SAML SSO is available without requiring an enterprise contract, unusual in the experimentation tools market.

**Does Confidence work with my data warehouse?**
Yes - and it's included on every plan, starting with Free. Confidence is warehouse-native and works with Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, and Redshift, letting you run experiments on metrics that already live in your data warehouse without duplicate event tracking. You can define metrics in SQL, reuse existing data models, and keep your warehouse as the source of truth. Most competitors gate warehouse integration behind enterprise contracts - we believe data teams shouldn't have to pay extra to use the data they already own.
