Confidence Session Recordings lets you replay actual user sessions, with AI-powered analysis to surface bugs and insights right from your experiments.

Today we're expanding the Confidence Product Platform with a brand new addition — Session Recordings. This is our take on recording and playing back what happens during your users' actual app usage.

Recordings add a new dimension to the experimentation rigor and insights you already know and love from Confidence, where you or your agent can replay and learn from actual users of your application.

## Why care?

Imagine you're running an A/B test on your online checkout flow to improve conversion rates. You run the experiment, all the right metrics are up, but one of your guardrail metrics has regressed. Even though conversion overall has improved, there's a significant increase in cart abandonment rate. How do you investigate it?

**Choose your next track:**

Do you:

A) Play it old school — look at the analytics data, form a hypothesis, try to reproduce the issue, fix it, then launch a new experiment, rinse, repeat.

B) Review a mix of recordings to review actual sessions of users in your experiment, right from the experiment. Ask the [Confidence Agent](/blog/introducing-confidence-agent) to find bottlenecks, and learn there is a field obstructing a checkout button on a subset of mobile browsers.

Deploy a fix, restart the experiment and ship, saving you days of debugging and guesswork. Your choice.

## How to get started

Recordings are available to all Confidence users now. They live in Confidence in the new **Recordings** tab.

There are two steps to getting started, and your agent can do the first half:

* [Install and configure the new SDK](https://confidence.spotify.com/docs/recordings)
* Set up a recording policy

That's it — Confidence will begin recording, and your list of sessions will start to populate.

You can also tweak privacy settings further. The Confidence Recording SDK protects your users' personal information by default by masking all inputs out of the box, and you can apply further masking or blocking yourself on other components depending on the exact specifics of your site.

## Reviewing recordings

Your users will generate a lot of recordings, and you are probably only interested in binge watching some of them!

Because of that, when recordings land in Confidence, your agent will watch them all, transcribe them, and identify learnings, bugs, and opportunities to improve, with no action required from you.

You can then filter on user actions (like errors) or semantically search through their transcripts — further saving you time.

When an agent reports a finding such as a bug, you can click to that exact time in the recording to jump there and observe it yourself.

Finally, the recording data is accessible to the rest of Confidence through the [Confidence Agent](/blog/introducing-confidence-agent). You can query for experiments and relevant recordings, and the Agent will bring them into the relevant chat.

If that sounds like your jam, check out [Confidence Session Recordings](https://confidence.spotify.com/docs/recordings/overview), grab some popcorn\*, and start gathering actionable, qualitative data on how real users use your apps today.
